Hola! ….wrong country I know…but I am feeling very much like a world traveler and cultured right now, so just let it go. Anywho…sorry bout the little rant in the last post. It was a lonely day haha. I am much better today. I had stuff to do so it was all good! J
I had my Italian class again this morning and the second day was a lot better than the first day. I was able to catch on to what she was saying more. Still really confused in class, but it is slowly coming along. We got assigned more homework working with the verbs “to be” and “to have” and the days of the week now so it is good. Then after class since it is morning still, I went with a few people to Café del Duomo (which is also the bar I always go to where I met the volleyball players and has the best bartenders ever) and had a cappuccino! Oh wow, I am not a coffee person but those are so delicious! I discovered (by accident) that they are good with brown sugar in them instead of regular. So yummy! Will definitely be getting more of those while I am here. Two of the bartenders were working (Alessio and Arianna) and they recognize us. I am also friends with both of them on facebook now haha and also the other Alessio (the volleyball coach) and figured out the details for their volleyball game on Saturday so that will be fun!
After that I came back to the apartment and stayed here for a while. I just kind of chilled. Watched TV, read a little bit, and did a bit of homework, and managed to get a little nap in. Then it was off to my first cooking class! It is from 6-8:30PM. I am going to love this class!! I am so excited for it. We went over everything that we will be making. We make everything from broth, pasta, pastries, fish, and pizza. We also have 2 field trips. One to a cheese factory and one to an oil mill. We immediately went into cooking. We made 3 types of broth: meat, vegetable, and fish. Then we also made dinner for all of us because it was late. Just made a simple pasta. The teacher is really cool. He speaks very good English and he owns a bakery in town and said we can come there anytime and he will show us around and let us observe him and stuff. It is so cool! He is an awesome guy, very funny, very outgoing. He looks like a typical chef! Love it! This will definitely be one of my favorite classes.
I learned today too that we have to pay for our books and lab fees all with cash!! It is nuts, we can’t use a credit card. But I also learned that textbooks here are not as expensive as they are at home. My cinema book was only 22 euro and my materials for my sketchbook class with be around the same amount, but the lab fees are pretty high which kind of suck, but I think it will be worth it. I love that most of my classes have limited quizzes/exams/papers and we have field trips in almost all of them. I think this is going to be a great semester not only cause of where I am but academically as well. I am very excited for it. (gotta bring that GPA back up!)
Our landlord lady tonight gave us some flashlights and the cutest note ever! I absolutely love Guiliana! She is so adorable! And her son, Daniele is so hot!! Oh wow. But he has a kid…bummer! And her husband is adorable too, they are all just so nice and cute and I cant even take it! Love them! We got so luck with them! (i have a picture of the note and stuff but this internet sucks so i will upload the pic in the next post or something!)
Anyway, today was a good day. Laid back and relaxing and was able to take my time with stuff. Tomorrow my only class is my wine class and I think it is as 4PM so I can definitely sleep in, thank goodness! Can’t believe that my first week of school is basically over! Wow! Can’t believe I’ve been here a week already. Feels like only a day or two!
Ciao!
